    Boost Mobile

Boost Mobile is a subsidiary of Sprint Nextel. It provides wireless services to customers in the United States. Boost Mobile was founded in 2000. Its headquarters is in Irvine, California. The company originally existed in only Australia and New Zealand, but entered the U.S. market in 2001. It became part of a telecommunications provider named Nextel. Nextel later merged with Sprint in 2006, transforming Boost into part of the merged partnership. It is no longer in New Zealand, but is still established in Australia. The company is known for its hip ad campaigns that target young potential customers.

Boost offers several different wireless calling plans. They include monthly unlimited, Android monthly unlimited, Blackberry monthly unlimited, daily unlimited, Blackberry daily unlimited, and pay as you go. One advantage that Boost Mobile has over its competitors is that it does not require its customers to sign up for a contract. Many telecommunications providers force people to sign contracts to use their services. Boost uses Sprint’s networks. Its services are available on a wide variety of phone brands, including Samsung, Sanyo, Motorola, and Blackberry.

Boost Mobile offers several innovative features. Boost Live is an online store where customers can download miscellaneous content such as mobile phone wallpaper and ringtones. Boost Hookt is a social network that allows users to communicate with their friends. For Facebook users, there is also a “re-boost” application, allowing users to reboot or restart their account through their Facebook profile.

Boost Mobile has received recent accolades. Kiplingers Personal Finance awarded Boost with its “best pre-paid cell phone plans” award in 2011. JD Power and Associates gave the company the 2011 award for best customer service among non-contract wireless providers. In 2010, it won Stevie Awards for its ad campaigns and new products.

Like other Sprint subsidiaries, Boost Mobile is an award-winning brand. It is an important part of Sprint Nextel, especially in terms of appealing to the young adult demographic.

Boost Mobile Review Boost Mobile is one of the popular phone options available on the market currently. It has several key features that have made it one of the better services available, with service heavily available in the east coast and some of the midwest, with select areas available on the west coast as well. There are a lot of key features that make Boost Mobile as popular as it is, which will be discussed in sections below.

    *Cell Phone Plans/Features and Benefits*
Boost Mobile has three types of plans available – monthly plans, daily plans, and per minute plans. Each differs slightly. There are no family plans available for Boost phones and their associated services at this time.

Boost Mobile offers a “Shrinking Payments” plan for all of their monthly plans. The idea behind this program is for every 6 payments made on time, the bill will drop by $5, with the cap being 18 on time payments dropping the bill down up to $15. The on time payments do not need to be consecutive, and after a milestone has been reached, you continue to pay from that milestone’s bracket, instead of resetting back to the original monthly price.

International Plans can also be added to any monthly plan. There are two levels. The Boost International Connect program is another $5 a month, and includes unlimited landline phone calls in Mexico, unlimited calls in Canada, and unlimited worldwide texting. The second, more expensive plan is $10 and includes unlimited landline calls to 45 countries in certain cities, as well as unlimited international texting, calls to mobile devices in Mexico for 5 cents/minute, and reduced rates for Talk & Text on certain plans.

    *Phones and Devices*
Boost Mobile phones come in a variety of 15 phones. There are 10 Android capable phones available, and one Blackberry phone available. There are current no Boost phones for Apple products or users. All Boost mobile phones have free activation for first use and free shipping when purchased through their website. The option for phone insurance also exists, for an additional $5/month, and covers broken, stolen, lost, and damaged devices. The full device list changes from time to time and is available on the website for purchase of a phone.

    *Help and Support*
There are three forms of support available – in store, phone support, and email support. To submit a support request in store, contact your local store or go in for support assistance. For phone support, you can call in 4am-9pm PST, 7 days a week. Email requests are processed via the website and are processed within 12 hours of the request being submitted.

    *Fees*
There are no active fees with the Boost program for activation. Depending on over use of 2.5gb/month of web time, there may be additional fees depending on how much past that you use the data. If you deactivate or cancel your phone in the first 30 days, there may be a $15 charge for activation. There are no roaming fees or cancellation fees with Boost service.

    *Additional Notes*
Boost has two other features of note. There is an online payment program, called Re-Boost. Re-boost allows for online payments (you can turn on and off automatic payments on for your phone; note that if you do this, it will attempt to draw money from you whether it is available or not), as well as adding money for friends or family members and buying a pre-paid 14-digit PIN on the account.

The second feature of note is a Referral Program. To refer a friend, the customer receives a promotion code. They then share this code with friends or family members. If a friend or family member signs up using the promotion code, a $25 credit goes to both parties. The credit is given to both parties after the person who was referred makes their first payment.

Their phone directory is aweful, while I get pretty good coverage. When I first got my phone the email worked fine, then it stopped working so now every time I click the email my phone automatically restarts itself. I have called and asked as well as emailed them a couple times. And the only way for them to fix the problems is if I can use someone elses phone…which not as many people have house phones like they used to. For temporary service or an emergency phone this service provider would be good but not for long term. One last thing, their search for the web sucks too. They give completely different and unrelavent results than say…bing or google.
